“One
generation plants the trees; another gets the shade.”
- Chinese Proverb
In
2006,
this quotation inspired many of us as the Great Park Conservancy
celebrated its inaugural fundraising event, the Jewel of
Orange County.
In 2007, it has become clear that our opportunity is even greater than
we first imagined.

About
the Jewel 2007
On Friday, May 18th, 2007, the Great Park Conservancy hosted the
second annual Jewel of Orange County. This exclusive event took
place
in a tented pavilion on the site of the future Botanical Garden at the
Orange
County Great Park. Event guests joined a sell-out crowd of 800
Great Park Conservancy supporters.
The
event began with a cocktail reception and a hosted vodka bar. Carrying
along
the Jewel theme, the Conservancy
presented
a silent auction of exclusive jewelry and accessories from top boutiques
of the world. Next, guests enjoyed a sumptuous alfresco California
grown dinner and delicious wines while watching a mesmerizing acrobatic
performance
by a cirque group. Of course, the evening included an inspiring
update about the tremendous progress that occurred at the Great
Parkover the year. This memorable event concluded with
a “Concert
in the Park” by the legendary Kenny Loggins.

envisions the Great Park to be one of the world’s great
metropolitan parks.
All
Proceeds Benefit
Funds generated by the Jewel of Orange County will be used to
further the mission of the Conservancy. We are establishing
a fundraising
base that
will help to raise money for public facilities and programs
at the Great Park. These programs will add great value to the
Great
Park
financing plan developed by the Orange County Great Park Corporation.
