Great Park Neighborhoods – formerly called Heritage Fields – is the new name defining three new communities that are planed around the Orange County Great Park. The diverse neighborhoods will create areas distinct to themselves – the Lifelong Learning District, the Park District, and the Transit Oriented District – all built around and at the edge of 1,347-acre Orange County Great Park, the centerpiece of the new communities.

The first phase of development, scheduled to begin with a groundbreaking in fall of 2008, is the Lifelong Learning District. Envisioned to be a “campus of campuses” this district will include a variety of institutions spanning the educational spectrum from pre-school to post-graduate students.

Also within the Lifelong Learning District will be a variety of retail, office, medical, business and residential choices. This neighborhood is intended to be home to people of all ages. Entertainment and cafes will draw students between classes and professionals at leisure to create a “downtown” neighborhood feel.

The Park District and the Transit Oriented District will be part of future phases of the Great Park Neighborhoods. The Park District will consist of larger homes set near a golf course and a lake – creating recreational opportunities within walking distance. The transit-oriented neighborhood, located near the Irvine Transportation Center, will include a variety of housing, business and retail uses.
